My entry for the Fantasy Earth Zero Contest! (man, this took forever because of all the detail, brainstorming, and large file size)
So...onto the 'specs' of my illustration: a) Character class chosen: Sorceress b) Focus of Power chosen: 'Judgment Ray' c) Costume modification: Based on the Sorceress Phantom Set from the Elite shop d) Weapon chosen: The Jacaranda
I was looking at all the powers a sorcerer/sorceress is able to perform in the game, and I was intrigued by the 'Judgment Ray' specialty This power allows the sorcerer/soceress to summons multiple bolts of lightning upon their enemies. Sounds pretty awesome, doesn't it?
So I was brainstorming ideas around the theme of 'judgment'. Judgment is absolute, and unavoidable. The rocks my sorceress is sitting on represents the coldness of judgment. It is cold in the sense that it allows no compromise or negotiation--there is only right and wrong, thus no in-betweens.
I've also tried to customize my sorceress' outfit to portray the unavoidability (is that even a word? ) of judgment, thus the amount of visual space she takes up in my illustration I went with a cooler palette (in contrast to the original red version of the outfit from the Elite Shop). Since I was inspired by the theme of 'judgment', I decided to give her a priest-like outfit. (which sort of worked to my advantage, seeing that it allowed room for accessories and fancy designs I mean, it IS an outfit inspired from the Phantom Set in the Elite Shop, so I gotta give my perfect sorceress a fancy outfit )
I've added little accessories here and there, primarily crystals, chains and wind chimes. The crystals symbolize the moral and mental clarity she must possess when she's using her Judgment Ray. Afterall, one must be truly omnipotent to carry out an 100% accurate judgment The chains symbolize the idea that no one will be able to escape her (this is also true in the 'real world', where no one is immuned to being judged). Lastly, the wind chimes on her boots are primarily for aesthetics and 'sound effects'. When she walks, the wind chimes on her boots will produce sound of which will be heard by many. I just thought it was a neat idea
I was going to add some lightning in the background, but I wanted something more powerful and dazzling, hence the aurora borealis. Auroras are also referred to as the "Dance of the Spirits" by the Cree (a native tribe). I thought this concept went along well with the light and dark spirits floating around her
One last tidbit on this illustration~not only is she pointing her Jacaranda staff at you, but you are also being judged by her ! (If you look closely at the pebble gems on her Jacaranda staff, you'll see a reflection of a person's silhoutte (from waist up)
Alrighty. That's all for now. I've had fun working on this *fingers crossed*

Omg, that is (no offence to all my other people i watch) the best art i have seen on deviantart so far. i give you my congratulations. I will be watching you (DA)
I do like the use of three point perspective here. It's pretty fitting. The color and lighting scheme look dazzling, which is good in grabbing the viewers attention. There is an incredible amount of detail in this picture, and I like that very much.
